INSTALLATION OF CHAINS FOR THE INTERNAL BERTS OF THE PORT OF SÃO SEBASTIÃO - SP - BRASIL

Considering the need for preventive maintenance of its fender system, our client asked Mecatec to replace the fender chains of the mooring berths. The first step was a thorough inspection of the fender system for a general and quantitative dimensional assessment to define the items to be supplied in accordance with the requirements of maritime and port authorities and technical design.

As it is a port facility, it was imperative that the services be carried out in the shortest possible time, making the planning of execution agile and safe, the biggest challenge of our team.

It was expected that the work would be carried out in five days, however, with the support of a munck truck, it was possible to stabilize each of the 32 fenders exactly in their original positions, which allowed the cutting of the old chains, without the need to to move them to the port pier for welding and installation of the new Ø 1.1/4 shackles, reducing the total service delivery time to just two days, resulting in another successful service.
